Summary
Have you ever wondered about the possibility of life on planets other than the Earth? If yes, the Kepler Mission from NASA has set about to do just that. The Kepler mission is a first of its kind which seeks to find other habitable planets like the Earth orbiting around the Sun and other stars. The Kepler telescope which will be placed in the "habitable zone" around the stars will use the "transit" method to accomplish this task. It will measure variations in the brightness of the stars with the highest precision as the planet passes between the star and itself. The mission is expected to last for 3 1/2 years taking a broad snapshot of around 100,000 stars.
