Probiotics
Summary
Probiotics are the opposite of antibiotics. These are a host of micro organisms that are beneficial to the human body such as those found in yogurt and soy foods. Scientists are working on identifying a host of such bacteria and yeasts that contribute to a healthier well being. Probiotics are medications or supplements that contain ingestible forms of such bacteria. Research has led to the formulation of different probiotics that prove to be good for: managing lactose intolerance, improving immune function, lowering of cholesterol, prevention of colon cancer, treatment of irritable bowel syndrome and stress reduction.
